CORPORATE GOVERNANCE AND CHANGE STRATEGY: A TWO-DAY PROGRAM IN ALMATY

On 15–16 May 2025, an educational event on “Corporate Governance and Change Strategy” was held in Almaty in a hybrid format. Participants from different regions of the country had the opportunity to delve into the key aspects of change management and modern corporate regulation.

The program was designed for two days and combined a theoretical foundation, practical case studies, and lively discussion with recognized experts in strategic and legal management.

Day 1: Change Strategy and Digital Transformation

Participants examined leadership in the context of transformation, the role of the board of directors in initiating and supporting change, as well as the implementation of innovations and technologies—including artificial intelligence—into corporate governance practices.

The speaker for the first day was El’nura Abakanova — a business development and strategic communications specialist, Senior Lecturer at AITU, an international Change-maker. She shared her experience gained during internships at Harvard University, Imperial College, the World Bank, the OECD, and other leading organizations.

Day 2: Corporate Governance Today

The second day focused on modern principles of corporate governance, the accountability of governing bodies, current issues of corporate law, and dispute resolution mechanisms. International G20/OECD standards and their adaptation to Kazakhstan’s practice were also discussed.

The speaker was Askar Kaldybayev — Candidate of Legal Sciences, LLM, Associate Professor, Director of the Arbitration Center of NPP “Atameken”. He covered key aspects of legal regulation and shared practical cases from arbitration practice.

The event became an important platform for exchanging knowledge, professional growth, and discussing pressing corporate governance issues in the face of rapid change.
