QID and HAWKAMAH Discuss Cooperation in Corporate Governance

A working meeting took place in Dubai between the Association of Independent Directors of Kazakhstan (Qazaq Independent Directors, QID) and the corporate governance institute Hawkamah – The Institute of Governance.

On behalf of the QID Association, Executive Director Elmira Abakanova took part in the event. From Hawkamah, the Chair of the Board Ahmed Gamal and the organization’s leadership were present.

During the meeting, the parties discussed in detail opportunities to exchange best practices and knowledge in corporate governance, as well as prospects for joint educational programs, trainings, and events. The participants emphasized the importance of improving the transparency and effectiveness of corporate governance as key factors for sustainable business development and attracting investment.

Particular attention was given to the implementation of international standards and best practices in corporate governance, adapting them to reflect the specifics of the regional market, as well as developing the competencies of independent directors and members of boards of directors.

Following the negotiations, the parties agreed to continue their cooperation and outlined plans to implement joint initiatives aimed at strengthening international ties and raising the professional level of corporate governance in Kazakhstan and the region.

This meeting became an important step toward expanding the partnership network and developing knowledge exchange among key institutions in the field of corporate governance.
